Introduction
The Board of Directors of the Big Alum Lake Association has asked us to organize
the vast amount of information available about the lake into a book, so that
it may be enjoyed by residents and friends now and for years to come. It
was suggested some time ago that we give our material to a professional author
so that he could write the book as a professional publication. The author,
however, intended to limit the book to nineteen pages and we felt that such
a limitation would necessitate omitting many interesting things, both fact
and fiction. We will therefore attempt to write our own online "book".
We will quote and/or use portions of writings by lake residents from the
past. We know that they would understand our desire to use their words, because
it seems as if they are still with us and are contributing their memories
to those of us here today. This "book" is a work-in-progress - please
check back often to read its updated versions.
